Shir Hadash is a spiritual home for English-speaking Jerusalem residents and visitors. I am proud to have facilitated the establishment and development of both the synagogue and kindergarten, which have been a magnet for talented people over the past twenty years. The community has become an incubator for projects that work towards the good of Jerusalem and I look forward to the innovation continuing and strengthening in the future..
As an academic, I am enjoying my research and look forward to finding a more permanent position. I am in the process of founding a network of Middle East researchers on issues related to science and belief in society with a partner from Dubai, UAE. Through these and similar academic pursuits, as well meeting with groups visiting Israel from around the world through Shir Hadash, I feel enriched by the opportunity to learn from others in processes that could be termed spiritual and academic diplomacy, and I would like to work on expanding these opportunities further..
I work as a researcher at the University of Haifa as well as alongside my husband Ian at Shir Hadash, a synagogue and nursery school, which is now (thankfully) housed in a beautiful location overlooking the picturesque Jerusalem parkland known as the Moon Grove. At the University I am the research coordinator of a Templeton World Charity Foundation funded project on dialogue between science education and religious education that seeks to understand perspectives on evolution among Jewish, Muslim and Christian students, teachers and policy makers in the Israeli education system.
